What We Believe

WE BELIEVE that the sixty-six books of the Protestant Bible, together and with no other, comprise the written Word of God, without error in the original manuscripts, written by men under the verbal plenary inspiration of the Holy Spirit. This written Word is the revelation of the self-attesting truth of God, infallible and authoritative in all matters on which it speaks, the only rule of faith and practice, and essential for salvation.

WE BELIEVE in one living and true God, the sovereign Creator and Sustainer of all things, infinite, eternal, perfect, and unchangeable in His being and attributes, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are one God, the same in essence and equal in power and glory.

WE BELIEVE that Jesus Christ, the second Person in the Godhead, became flesh, born of a virgin by the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit. He was and continues to be fully God and fully man, in two distinct natures and one person forever. He was crucified and died, as a propitiation for the sins of His people. He was buried and, on the third day, He arose bodily from the grave. He ascended into heaven, where He is now our Mediator, High Priest, and King.

WE BELIEVE that, on the sixth day of creation, God made man, male and female, in His own image and after His own likeness. He gave them knowledge, righteousness, and holiness, and wrote His law in their heart, which He gave them the freedom to obey or disobey. The first two people, Adam and Eve, disobeyed God. Consequently, they fell from their righteousness, became dead in sin, and lost fellowship with God, there being nothing they could do of their own strength to regain it. Adam being the federal head of humanity, all people born of ordinary generation are born likewise dead in sin and separated from God.

WE BELIEVE that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Salvation, by which God regenerates the sinner, imputes to him the righteousness of Christ, declares him justified, and ultimately conforms him to the image of Christ, is thus wholly a work of God, and is in no way and in no measure the work of man. Only those so regenerated can or will be adopted as children of God, receiving thereby the gift of eternal life.

WE BELIEVE that Jesus Christ will return personally, bodily, and visibly, to judge all people and assign to each his eternal destiny. The bodies of the dead will rise, and all persons will appear before the throne of God. Those who are found to have not placed saving faith in Christ will be cast into Hell, suffering torment forever. Those who are found in Christ will be made perfect in both body and soul and will be welcomed into the blessed and glorious presence of God forever. Amen.
